Meriam Rosen
is a Professor, Visiting Artist Coordinator and Publicist for the
Department of Dance and primary advisor for dance programming in the
Clarice
Smith Performing Arts Center. She was the founder and director of
IMPROVISATIONS UNLIMITED, a repertory, movement improvisation company
which toured extensively in the Mid-Atlantic and Eastern regions from
1978-1992. She was a recipient of a National Endowment of the
Arts Fellowship for Choreography in 1985. Her choreographic work
has included full evening performances at the University of Maryland,
the Kennedy Center and Publick Playhouse. She received the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award
from the Washington Performing Arts Society and the Pola Nirenska Award
Committee. Mim continues to enjoy teaching improvisation,
choreography and rehearsal direction with students and is engaged in
exposing them to a rich and broadening experience with vital
contemporary dance makers.
