Karen Kohn
Bradley is Visiting Associate Professor of Dance and Director of
Graduate Studies in Dance at the University of Maryland. She is a
Certified Movement Analyst in Laban Movement Analysis and Chair of the
Board of the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York
City. She has worked as a classroom teacher, dance/movement
therapist, massage and bodywork practitioner, and theatre
choreographer, applying her training in LMA and related modalities to
all. She is a specialist in Movement for Actors and she consults
regularly to educators nationally on arts education, research, and
policy. She has been a member of the State of Maryland Task Force
on Arts and Higher Education Arts Task Force (HEAT) to Arts Education
in Maryland Schools (AEMS). Bradley has authored many articles
and chapters on dance education research and policy and most recently,
co-authored a chapter entitled "The Dance of Learning" in the
forthcoming updated Handbook of Research on the Education of Young
Children. (Spodek and Saracho, Techbooks Press, 2005) She
is currently writing a book about Rudolf Laban and his performance
practices for Routledge's series on 20th Century Performance
Practitioners (due July 2007).
