Anne Warren is a
Professor and Director of Undergraduate Dance Studies and teaches
seminars for the University Honors Program. She is a Fellow in
the Academy for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (AETL) and a former
Center for Teaching Excellence/Lilly Teaching Fellow. From
1972-1988 she served as rehearsal director and later Associate Director
of Maryland Dance Theater and
toured with the company as a principal dancer and choreographer in
performances throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. Her work earned
her the 1987 "Arts Achievement Award in Dance" from Wayne State
University and she shares, along with her husband Larry Warren, the
1986 award "For Outstanding Service to Dance in Maryland" from the
Maryland Council for Dance and the 2000-2001 Pola Nirenska Lifetime Achievement Award
in Dance presented by the Washington Performing Arts
Society. Professor Warren is a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA)
and is presently exploring the application of that work to her teaching
and writing.
