FACULTY
KAREN KOHN BRADLEY, B.A., Sociology, Boston University; M.A.
in Dance,
University of Oregon; CMA in Laban Movement Studies, Laban/Bartenieff
Institute,
New York, New York
Visiting Associate Professor of Dance and Director of Graduate Studies
in Dance at the University of Maryland. She is currently
President
of the Congress on Research in Dance and Acting Chair of the Board of
Directors
of the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies. Ms.
Bradley
was Chair of the Department of Dance at Towson University from
1991-98.
She
is a Certified Movement Analyst in Laban Movement Analysis and has
worked in dance therapy and with learning disabled children. She
is working on a documentary film on Rudolf Laban entitled “Catching the
Eternal” and is also active in curriculum design for dance in public
education.
Ms. Bradley was Local Arrangements Chair and on the Steering Committee
for
DANCING IN THE MILLENNIUM, a conference held in Washington, DC in July
2000. She has also choreographed, written and directed for
theatre
in the Baltimore and Washington, DC communities.
PAUL D. JACKSON, B.F.A., Dance Performance, University of
Utah; M.A.,
Dance Production, The Ohio State University.
Technical Director, Lighting Designer, and Production Stage Manager
for the Department of Dance; was Technical Director, Lighting Designer,
and Production State Manager for Maryland Dance Theater and
IMPROVISATIONS
UNLIMITED, active in designing and mounting dance performances
throughout
the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; performs in works
choreographed by members of the faculty.
MERIAM ROSEN, B.S., Dance, University of Illinois,
Champaign-Urbana;
M.A., Theatre, University of Maryland, College Park.
Founder/Director of IMPROVISATIONS UNLIMITED 1979-1993.
Choreographer
of works for dance theater and opera and recipient of a number of
choreographic
awards and commissions including the National Endowment for the Arts
and
the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
ANNE WARREN, B.A., English, Ohio State University; M.Ed.,
Dance, Wayne
State University Received critical acclaim for her work with Maryland
Dance
Theater as a dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director, and associate
director.
Has restaged works from Labanotation for both Maryland Dance Theater
and
the Department of Dance. She is currently Director of Undergraduate
Dance
Studies.
ALCINE WILTZ, B.A., Choreographic Design, University of
Southwestern
Louisiana; M.F.A., Choreography/Performance, University of
Wisconsin-Madison
Performed in concert with Charles Weidman and Hanya Holm; was Director
of Dance/Artist-In-Residence at Southern Illinois
University-Edwardsville
(1968-1983); co-founded/directed Mid America Dance Company.
NEJLA Y. YATKIN Named by Dance Magazine as one of
"Top 25 to Watch in 2005" and "Outstanding Emerging Artist" by the D.C.
Mayor's Arts Award Committee, award-winning and internationally
acclaimed choreographer and dancer Najla Y. Yatkin graduated with her
masters in Dance and choreography from Die Etage - a Professional
Performing Arts Department in Berlin, Germany. Ms. Yatkin is
currently based in Washington, D.C. pursuing her solo career: dancing,
choreographing and giving workshops at international and national
festivals.
